Purposeful Play

Purposeful Play refers to learning through play. This happens when the activity is experienced as joyful, helps children find meaning in what they are doing or learning, involves active,
engaged, minds-on thinking, as well as iterative thinking (experimentation, hypothesis testing, etc.), and social interaction.

ORT SA CAPE offers training to ECD and foundation phase teachers on Purposeful Play.

The training uses LEGO Play Box as a formal, yet versatile resource that lends itself to teaching a range of skills through fun activities. Teachers participate in several practical activities that cover perceptual skills, as well as emergent literacy and numeracy.
