Every year, ORT SA CAPE enters a number of teams into the annual FIRST LEGO League (FLL). For years, the FLL has given children aged 9 through 16 a chance to hone their skills in research, robotics, teamwork and self-discipline via friendly competition. The international competition involves over 25 000 children in over 80 countries, and provides the opportunity for teams to travel abroad to represent their country on the global stage.

This year the African EduWeek was held at the Sandton Convention Centre on 10 – 11 July 2014. More than 2436 teachers and education experts attended the conference and expo to empower themselves through technology, skills and interaction with their peers.
On Friday 15th August ORT SA CAPE hosted a graduation ceremony for fifty Grade R teachers after they completed ORT SA CAPE’s training programmes. Forty five of the teachers celebrated after completing the Life Skills: Science and Technology integrated with Literacy and Numeracy programme and five very proud teachers received their full Grade R qualification.
Approximately 100 children from Baphumalele Children’s Home and Ngamana Safe Academy, 2 Khayelitsha orphanages, and The Wesleyan Children's Church Group from Delft were hosted by ORT SA CAPE at the Cape Town Science Centre. The place was a buzzing hive of activity!
